Atiku Abubakar has been saddened by the news of the demolition of a building belonging to popular musician Yinka Ayefele’s in Ibadan by the state government on Sunday morning.

Atiku Abubakar who is a former Vice President condemned the action saying it was wrong timing by the state government, given the millions of Nigerian youths that are out of jobs in Nigeria. He said the demolition of the studio which used to house Fresh FM, means more Nigerian youths, especially those in Oyo state will now be out of a job for that singular action by the government.

Atiku who has indicated interest in running for Nigeria’s President come 2019, also frowned at what he called an attempt to kill press freedom in Nigeria, especially a Radio Station that’s one of the key tools of information dissemination such as Fresh FM, signals danger for the Country’s young democracy.

Taking to his social media page on Sunday, he said

“The reports of the demolition of Radio station in Oyo fills me with a deep sadness. Press freedom is sacrosanct. It’s equally saddening that at a time when jobs are badly needed, a radio station which was providing jobs is needlessly demolished. #sad”

Since the demolition of the building alleged to worth over N800million Nigerians and politicians alike have all condemned the Government for the actions, which the government said was on the right-of-way.

The government is still yet to make any official comment on the demolition, even with the out pour of condemnation.
