The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed their condolence to the Governor of Bayelsa State Hon. Seriake Dickson and the people of Bayelsa State on the death of his mother.
The spokesperson of the opposition party Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan who released the statement on behalf of the party said:
“The national leadership, on behalf of the entire Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family, condoles with the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Seriake Dickson over the passing of his amiable mother, Mrs. Goldcoast Dickson.”
The statement continued with:
“The National Leadership on behalf of the entire Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family, condoles with the executive Governor of Bayelsa State Hon. Seriake Dickson over the passing of his amiable mother, Mrs. Godcoast Dickson.
Indeed, the PDP family is deeply pained by the demise of this extraordinary lad a quintessential mother and exceptional community leader who dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity.
While we mourn as a party, we draw succor from the fact that Mrs, Dickson lived a fruitful life and labored to give our nation, Bayelsa State, and the PDP the gift of a statesman and patriot in Governor Seriake Dickson.
Governor Dickson’s commitment towards national stability, development and good governance both as a federal lawmaker and now a state governor, all speak volume of his background and lessons from a virtuous mother.
The PDP notes the roles played by Governor Dickson in the repositioning of our great party, especially as the Chairman of the PDP National Reconciliation Committee, wherein his prowess for peacemaking helped extensively in achieving the stability upon which our great party now stands.
The PDP joins millions of other compatriots in condoling with Governor Seriake Dickson, the entire Dickson family and people of Bayelsa State, even as we pray God to give them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
The late Mrs. Gold-Coast Dickson died of breast cancer at the MD Anderson Cancer Centre, University of Texas, Houston Texas, United States, at the age of 72.
