Spanish winger Pedro has signed a new one-year contract with English Premier League side, Chelsea, keeping him at the club till 2020.
Following in the Chelsea tradition of offering only a one-year contract to those players above 30, the Spaniard who has had a successful career since joining the club in 2015, said it is important for him to remain at the London club, as he is very happy in England.
While speaking to the club website Chelseafc.com on his new contract, he said:
‘It is very good for me, I am really happy here in the club, with my team-mates, the supporters and the club in general.
‘It’s important for me to continue with Chelsea, I am comfortable here and want to win new titles and trophies. I want to help the team, score goals, and I repeat, I am really happy.’
The club director Marina Granovskaia also added:
‘We are very happy to secure Pedro’s services for another year. Since becoming a Chelsea player he has regularly demonstrated his quality on the field and we look forward to seeing him continue to flourish under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri.’
Pedro who is now 31, has won the Premier League, and FA cup since his arrival, and also some personal awards.
He has featured 131-times for Chelsea, scoring 28 goals so far.
