The Senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial zone, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce in his latest social media post, is calling for the adoption of a new voting system, where by Nigerians in any election can vote through “Text” giving the huge number of subscribers to phone-lines in the country.

The Senator who is of the Peoples Democratic Party while frowning at the alleged rigging of the July 14th 2018 Governorship Election in Ekiti State, said giving the huge number of phone-line subscribers, a figure  which he put at over 100-million, he does not see why Nigerians cannot vote by “Text” to curb what he called “the Ekiti Style Vote buying”.

Taking to his social media page, he said there are 100 million phone lines in Nigeria. Almost every Nigerian adult has a phone. All mobile lines are registered by the NCC, which captures names personal details, photos and finger prints of registered owners. Why can’t we vote by text? It will end Ekiti style vote buying.
