The embattled Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye has refuted claims he was on a hunger strike at the National Hospital in Abuja where he is undergoing treatment for injuries sustained during his alleged attempt to evade arrest from the Nigerian police. The Senator who made this known on his social media page said he is being denied access to his lawyers and food, while also saying his brothers, friends and driver are also in Police custody for reasons he did not give.

It is very amusing how this case has been twisting and turning, like a Nigerian Youth trying to get up from his bed on Monday morning, only to realise there is nowhere to wake up and hurry to…but the sports betting shop nearby….Imagine a Senator who had earlier tweeted that he was in the intensive care unit, Trauma section still had the energy to send out tweets on his condition and what is happening outside of the hospital… Lol. If this is not some Nollywood scripted movie, I wonder what else I would call it.

In his tweet late last night, took to his social media page to say that the Police are deliberately starving him and denying him access to his lawyers, family members and of course food, and wish to make this known to the public. He said:

Denied access to my lawyers, family members and food for the past more than 24hours

In his previous tweet, the Senator alleged that his brothers and friends are all been detained by the Nigerian police. He said:

Samuel melaye, moses melaye, pastor Obalemo, my Driver Folorunsho, one of my lawyers and 7 others arrested since Monday by the police still in detention by the police

Melaye is at the intensive care unit of the national hospital. Trauma section

Hopefully, the Senator and the Nigerian Police or better still, just like it has been suggested by the National Assembly, the President should intervene and bring this case to an amicable end between the Police and the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District Senator Dino Melaye…
