PHOTO: PDP Blames President Buhari For Ministers’ Absence at US Investors’ Meeting.

Image: President Buhari at the Commonwealth meeting

The Peoples Democratic Party has blamed the President for Nigeria’s lost opportunities at the United States Investors Meeting. They expressed this in a series of tweets on their social media handle, faulting the President for not making the foreign investors meeting as a priority, as his ministers who were ought to be present at the meeting, abandoned their official duties for a shopping spree.

PDP in the statement, called out Dr Audu Ogbeh, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Babatunde Fashola, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, Kemi Adeosun (Finance) and Kayode Fayemi (Solid minerals) as the ministers who went on a shopping spree, leaving the US investors meetings they were scheduled to attend. The official statement which was released on their page reads:

“The ministers reportedly abandoned the foreign investors meeting and went on shopping spree, at the time Nigerians were looking up to them to negotiate deals and bring in investments into the country.

PDP called the Incident a disgrace, which does not show Nigeria as a country and her people in good light, saying:

This embarrassing development is indeed a clear reflection of the recklessness and laissez-faire attitude of the Buhari-led APC administration towards governance, resulting in the biting economic recession and other woes plaguing our nation under Buhari’s watch.

It is now clear to Nigerians why the APC and its incompetent FG have not been able to attract any meaningful Foreign Direct Investment to the country in the last three years of President Buhari’s administration. Instead, the ones it inherited are pulling out.

How can the APC government officials sent to attend investors’ meetings abandon their duties and engage in personal leisure abroad? Painfully, they blame everybody but themselves for the choking economic situation of the country in the last three years.

PDP holds that these government officials had the temerity to pursue personal interests across the United State because they knew that even if their atrocious act were brought to the attention of Mr. President, Buhari will claim that he is not aware.

We therefore urge the Nigeria’s National Assembly to spare no rods but to immediately summon the ministers named in the saga, including Dr. Audu Ogbeh, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Babatunde Fashola, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, Kemi Adeosun (Finance) and Kayode Fayemi (Solid minerals).

The statement concluded.
