Funny how you will make all the ‘noise’ and criticise people, only to find out that your ‘fake news/source’ you have relied on as your object evidence to the reasons behind your criticism, are fake and untrue. This was the sorry case of the popular celebrity, turned social activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known and called as ‘Charly Boy.
I recall vividly seeing his post on his Instagram page yesterday (Saturday) on a news he shared praising some youths in LAFIAGI in Kwara State where he alleged that the unnamed youths pelted the Nigerian Senate President with stones as he visits the Local Government Areas. He went as far as putting up a photo of Senator Bukola Saraki cleaning up himself after the alleged mob attack on him, saying ‘nemesis caught up with the Senate President’…lol…Guess that same ‘nemesis has caught up with Charly Boy himself with this confessional statement he ‘titled Statement of apology’…lol…see his photo and his caption on Saturday:
E never start. Saraki after he escaped the mob attack by people of lafiagi in his own state. May all those who have conspired to render us hopeless, penniless and frustrated, may nemesis catch up with them.
After 15hours later, the co-founder and coordinator of the OurMumuDonDo group, took to his Instagram page again, to render an apology for his error and for falling for cheap blackmail of the Senate President. Now do not get me wrong here, as I am either on anyone’s side, as we have always been careful not to fall for the fake news shenanigans, which is why we try as much as possible to verify our sources before putting out a post. Having said that, Charly Boy who regretted his actions, put out an apology note with some real photos of the Senator on what looks like a Senator visiting an environmentally degraded area and was only trying to clean up in the photo Charly Boy had used as a mod attack. STATEMENT OF APOLOGY TO SENATE PRESIDENT SARAKI
I understand my earlier post on Senate president Bukola Saraki was incorrect. I admit I was in a hurry to post before verifying the veracity of the story. I apologize for this avoidable error.
I, however, maintain that most Nigerian leaders including the Senate President, have failed the Nigerian people, that most Naija politicians are the enemies of the people. They all should do a sober reflection and begin to act more responsibly before yawa go burst.
I have written this apology because I believe it is the noble thing to do. Even though I know sey most of the riffraff wey dey power no go ever do the same.
