Tylor Chase former Nickelodeon co-star has heartbreakingly revealed the homeless actor trashed the hotel room that he got for him as he asked advice from his followers on how to proceed in trying to help his troubled friend.
Daniel Curtis Lee, who starred alongside Tylor Chase on Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, took to his TikTok on Christmas morning Thursday to reveal the heartbreaking update.
Chase, 36, portrayed Martin Qwerly on 33 episodes of the show from 2004–2007, while Lee, 34, played the role of Simon ‘Cookie’ Nelson-Cook on 54 episodes.
Lee began his TikTok video by saying: ‘Happy holidays, everyone. I hope you’re somewhere nice and warm with your families.
‘Unfortunately, Tylor Chase is not, and this is the case for millions of other Americans.’
He went on to reveal that hours after checking Chase into the hotel, he got a call from management that the door of the room was left wide open and the microwave was in the tub and the refrigerator was turned over.
Lee expressed regret as he admitted that his family had tried to check him into a hotel before and it didn’t work.
He then went on to slam how California handles mental health crises and the systems that are in place which make it difficult for people like Chase to get the help they need.
Lee said: ‘I don’t understand how a system could be in place, right?
‘We have all these social systems where help should be provided for these people facing mental health issues, drug abuse issues, right? Taxpayers vote on this stuff all the time.
He goes on to say that LA County, Riverside County, and California as a whole do not have ‘quality systems.’
Lee also cited the CARE Act (Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment Act) which is a California law creating a civil court process to help people with severe, untreated psychotic disorders (like schizophrenia) get treatment, housing, and support before things escalate to crisis, jail, or involuntary conservatorship.
Despite being disappointed with the way things have played out, Lee still wants to help his former co-star as he asked his followers for advice on how to proceed and if a temporary, involuntary psychiatric hold AKA a 5150 in California is worth pushing.
He said: ‘I think that it is time to put in a call for 51 50, but I, I also need insight from you all. Do you think that’s fair to have a third party call and get someone entry into a facility when you know they need the treatment and they’re gravely mentally disabled?
‘We have to do something before it’s too late for Tyler. We have to do something, guys. And I just want a little insight.’
This comes a day after Chase was checked into a hotel room with help from his former Nickelodeon co-star Lee.
