Nigerian comedian, and politician, Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule known better in the Nigerian entertainment industry as Okey Bakassi, and his beautiful wife Mrs Ezinne Onyegbule are today, celebrating 24 years since they were joined together as husband and wife.

“On this day 24 years ago, we went before God, family and friends to exchange marital vows in Port Harcourt, the city we first met.
We were young, excited and oblivious to the enormity of the challenges ahead. The bill pilled, Covid-19 happened…too many challenges. But with the blessing of three kids, the grace of God, the love of family and the support of friends, success prevailed,” he said.
In thanking his wife, Okey Bakassi in his caption of the photos he put up, added:
“My darling wife, thanks for making this journey look easy. You are the best. Let’s hold hands and walk into the sunset, confident that the sun will always rise and we will still have each other. I love you from now till eternity. Happy 24th anniversary Zizi,” he said.
In one of the interview the Nollywood actor and stand-up comedian granted to Punch Newspaper in 2021, Okey Bakassi narrated how he met his wife, and how their friendship started all the way in Port Harcourt.
“I met my wife in 1988. I was still in my first year at the university then. I guess my first word to her would be “Hello,” he told Punch Newspaper then.
“I went with my dad to visit my younger sister at the Federal Government Girls College, Abuloma, Rivers State. My sister and her friends came to greet my dad and me, that was when she caught my attention. She was one of the smallest but carried herself with some level of maturity. After our visit, I started making inquiries about her from my sister, who finally connected us”
We started exchanging friendly notes and it graduated to love letters. Our cordial and exciting communication was an indication that a lasting relationship was in the making.
She got admission to study abroad, we kept communicating for a while until the relationship faded. It was a difficult time. I guess fate wanted us to grow apart so we can appreciate what we had. When we finally connected eight years after our breakup, we were both ready for marriage. I proposed, she said yes.
My marital journey has been an interesting experience: our love, trust and patience have been tested. We have been blessed with three beautiful and intelligent kids and our friendship has grown stronger. No one understands me more than my wife,” he said.
