Lisa Marie Presley in her posthumous memoir, “From Here to the Great Unknown,” detailed the most intimate parts of her life, including getting pregnant with her daughter Riley Keough.
After having an abortion which she called “the stupidest thing I’ve ever done” — the late singer Lisa Marie Presley admitted she “planned and plotted and schemed” to make sure she was ovulating when she joined then-boyfriend Danny Keough on a cruise ship where his band was performing.
“I didn’t care if he wanted to be a part of it or not. I felt that I had to redeem, to make amends, because I still couldn’t believe I had had an abortion,” Lisa Marie Presley wrote, per People.
“I thought, I’m going to have this child. There is a child I need to be having.”
Lisa Marie Presley continued, “I would be talking to the lost child, saying, ‘I’m so sorry, I can’t believe I f–king did that. Please forgive me and stay with me until I get pregnant again.’”
Two weeks later, Lisa Marie Presley learned she was pregnant with Riley, who was born in May 1989.
In her memoir, the daughter of Elvis Presley admitted that she “trapped” Danny with the pregnancy, writing, “I didn’t really mean to, but I did.”
Lisa Marie and Danny were married from 1988 to 1994.
The pair also shared son Benjamin Storm Keough, who was born in 1992. He tragically died in July 2020.
Riley, now 35, said in September that Lisa Marie who passed away from surgery complications in January 2023 — died of a “broken heart” following the loss of her son.
