Nicole Furia: Financial Controller On ‘Titanic’, ‘Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens’ Dies At 64

Nicole Furia, a freelance film production accountant and financial controller, died Saturday, July 20 at home in Agoura Hills, California, after a ten-year battle with cancer. She was 64 and her death was confirmed by her brother, Christopher Furia.

Nicole Furia grew up in the entertainment industry as the daughter of John Furia, Jr., the former president of the Writer’s Guild of America, showrunner, and producer.  

She started in the industry as a paymaster at DISC (now Entertainment Partners), later working as an assistant accountant in television. After gaining experience in television, she moved to working as a production accountant and financial controller on such films as My Cousin Vinny, The Client, Titanic, V for Vendetta, Snow White and the Huntsman, and Star Wars Episode VII.   

Furia was known for her tireless work ethic and her mentoring of countless members of the production accounting community throughout her career.    

Survivors include her siblings Rob, Johnny, Michele, Vince, Jimi, and Chris. No memorial plans were revealed.
