Serena Williams took some time to pose with her family on the red carpet before hosting the 2024 ESPY Awards.

The 42-year-old tennis legend who recently opened up about trying to cash a $1 million check at a drive-thru ATM – hit the red carpet with her husband Alexis Ohanian and their six-year-old daughter Olympia on Thursday.

Serena Williams didn’t bring their youngest child – Adira River Ohanian – who was born in August 2023 to the festivities.

The athlete stepped out in a stunning black gown with silver straps, which fell all the way to the carpet and trailed slightly behind her.

The small train also featured matching silver trim as she accessorized with strand earrings, a gold watch and several rings.

The long train obscured Williams’ footwear for the evening as she posed before starting hr hosting duties.

Her husband Ohanian – co-founder of Reddit – opted for a classic black Gucci suit with a white dress shirt and black tie.

Their daughter Olympia opted for a silver dress and matching silver flats for the red carpet look.
Williams is considered by many to be the greatest women’s tennis player of all-time, winning 23 Grand Slam tournaments, earning $95 million in prize money.

The legend recently opened up about a unique moment early in her career, during an appearance on Hot Ones.

‘I got my check and it was a million dollars, and I was like “ok, I’m gonna go deposit it,”‘ she revealed.

‘I’d never really spent a lot of money, I was so serious. I don’t know what happened to me, I used to be serious,’ she said.

‘So I went to the drive-through and the guy was like, “Uh… I think you need to come inside for this.” And I was like, “oh ok!”

Despite collecting winners’ check after winners’ check throughout her illustrious career, Serena Williams insists she was never motivated by money as a player.

So much so, in fact, that she often forgot about various prize funds she won on the court.

‘I never played for money, I played ’cause I loved the sport,’ the tennis legend added. ‘I don’t even know if I wanted to play to be the best, I wanted to win.

So my tax guy, he would be like, “You didn’t get your money?” And I’d be like, “Oh, I didn’t get that one in Zurich. Oh, I forgot that one in Moscow.”
