Daisy Edgar-Jones has lifted the lid on her sweet relationship with her close friend and co-star Paul Mescal.
The duo have delighted fans with snippets of their adorable friendship, ever since they met on the set of Normal People back in 2019.
Now, in a new interview with Variety, the actress, 26, revealed that she considers the Gladiators II star, 28, to be one of her ‘lifetime best friends’.
She told the publication: ‘He’s an incredibly grounded person and I am too, I think, so it’s nice to be able to have those touchstones and those people you can laugh about it with and be lighthearted with.
‘We met when I was 20 and Paul was 22; I’m so excited to see where we’ll be at 32, 42, and what life will bring us.’
It comes just after the pair sent fans wild after spending the weekend together two weeks ago when they were spotted partying at the iconic Glastonbury Festival.
The actress sent fans of the steamy BBC drama into overdrive as she shared photos from the Worthy Farm music event, including one snap of her fun reunion with Paul.
‘Glasto, you’ve been good to me,’ Daisy captioned the post, which showed her and Paul with their arms wrapped around one another.
Other photos saw Daisy posing up a storm in her Hunter wellies in the VIP camping field and enjoying beers with a large group of friends, which also included actress Saoirse Ronan.
She also posed with Shania Twain, who performed in the festival’s Legends slot on Sunday.
The last photo saw Daisy Edgar-Jones cosying up to her photographer boyfriend Ben Seed, who she has been dating since the beginning of the year.
Daisy Edgar-Jones recently spoke out on the possibility of a second series of Normal People.
The actress shot to fame in 2020 over just 12 episodes when the BBC Three adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel hit screens.
Playing opposite Paul, Normal People followed Daisy’s character Marianne Sheridan and Paul’s character Connell Waldron in secondary school and their relationship through their college years.
But Daisy Edgar-Jones has now admitted that that is where the story ends.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress was asked about the possibility of a follow-up series, but she responded: ‘No there is no season two that I know of!’
If it was up to Daisy Edgar-Jones though, she would revisit Marianne and Connell, gushing: ‘It was really special, I love those characters and that world, I would love to revisit where they are ten years later. ‘
In May, the pair apologised for ‘leading people on’ after cryptically posting they had ‘news to share’.
Many fans of the BBC show assumed a second series was soon to be announced, however they have now confirmed they will not be reuniting on screen, leaving many devastated.
Instead, Daisy and Paul revealed their surprise was that they would instead be hosting a marathon screening of Normal People’s first season in order to raise funds for Unicef as well as suicide prevention charity Pieta.
In a joint video on Instagram Paul said: ‘Hello, The news is, and we are incredibly sorry if we led people on, it’s not a season two’.
Elsewhere in the Variety interview, Daisy revealed she is not portraying singer-songwriter Carole King in a biopic, more than a year and a half after first signing on for the role.
She had signed on to star in Sony’s movie adaptation of Beautiful: A Carole King Musical, which had a five-year run on Broadway from 2014 to 2019.
While little has been revealed about the project since, the actress revealed that she was no longer attached to it.
‘That’s no longer happening. I love Carole and I love that story, but it was a year ago that they decided [to no longer pursue it]. I did learn a lot of piano,’ she said.
While the actress seemed to implicate that the project itself was no longer happening, Variety confirmed the film still is in development at Sony.
Later in 2024, Daisy will appear in American disaster film Twisters, and it will be her fourth feature film.
Paul, meanwhile, will appear in Gladiator II, and is currently filming American coming-of-age musical-comedy Merrily We Roll Along.
