Over 40 years after a group of young actors took over Hollywood and changed it forever, St. Elmo’s Fire star Andrew McCarthy is reuniting with fellow ’80s icons Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Jon Cryer, Lea Thompson, Timothy Hutton and more in his new documentary BRATS, PEOPLE reports.
According to the report by PEOPLE in an exclusive first look at the trailer for BRATS, which offers glimpses of the interviews McCarthy, 61, pursues with his former peers.

The actor-director can be seen asking Estevez, 62, about why he agreed to a reunion after being “not interested in talking about the Brat Pack for years.”
“I turned everything down,” confirms Estevez, telling McCarthy he wanted to join this project “because you called me. It was time that we clear the air on a couple things.”
In March 2023, McCarthy posted a photo of that reunion, captioning the Instagram post, “Hadn’t seen my old ST. ELMO’S FIRE costar, Emilio Estevez in more than 30 years, when we got together to chat for my upcoming Brat Pack documentary. Felt like meeting a long lost brother.”
The new trailer also includes snippets of McCarthy asking his peers how they feel about the term Brat Pack, which was coined in a New York magazine story written by David Blum in 1985. Several of the young stars have throughout the years indicated that the term and widespread media attention caused their offscreen friendships to dissolve.
In her interview, Moore, 61, poses the question: “Why did we take it as an offense?”
“We were afraid we were brats,” responds McCarthy.
BRATS looks to include plenty of footage from The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Back to the Future and other 1980s classics, as well as behind-the-scenes and interview footage during the promotion of those movies.
“Making BRATS was that rare opportunity to dive back into the frozen past and bring it up into the living present,” said McCarthy in a statement.
