Ojodu City Academy striker Ibrahim Hafiz Umar will be joining English Premier League side Chelsea on trial after he was reported to be joining Norwegian professional football club side FK Bodø/Glimt.
According to the report by renowned Football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the uncapped and promising Nigerian striker, Ibrahim Hafiz Umar who is only 18, has made a U-turn on his move to FK Bodø/Glimt even after his club Ojodu City Academy agreed to €500,000 with the Norwegian club side a few weeks ago.
“Nigerian striker Ibrahim Hafiz Umar (18) has decided to trial at Chelsea instead of joining FK Bodø/Glimt despite a club-to-club deal done for €500k.
It will be up to Chelsea now, as Hafiz will be on trial for next weeks from Ojodu City Academy, ” Fabrizio tweeted on his social media handle on Tuesday.
Ojodu City FC were among the four Nigerian side that participated in the just-concluded Viareggio tournament 2024 Viareggio Cup.
Ojodu City FC’s impressive performance in the tournament was evident, despite being edged out by Beyond Limit in the semi-final. Hafiz Ibrahim emerged as one of the top scorers, netting a total of 9 goals throughout the competition.
Hafiz Ibrahim’s stellar performance at the Viareggio Cup attracted interest from top European clubs such as Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Fiorentina.
However, Bodo/Glimt emerged victorious in securing his signature, highlighting the growing reputation of Ojodu City FC as a talent hotspot.
