The Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Idowu Owohunwa has paid a visit to the young man assaulted by his men and his motorcycle forcefully taken away from him, as Police authorities continue to struggle to address the issue of Police brutality in the country.

The ugly incident which happened a few days ago at the Oja Oba, Ogundele street, close to the Abule Egba under bridge area of the state, attracted a lot of condemnations from Nigerians. The reactions from Nigerians, prompted the visit by the head of the Lagos State Police Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa on Thursday.

According to the statement released on Thursday 18th May 2023, by the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin who shared photos from the visit, stated that CP Idowu Owohunwa today visited the young man involved in the incident (Police brutality) and members/leadership of Hausa community in Abattoir Market, Agege.

The CP, who condemned the excessive use of force by the policemen in enforcing the existing ban on use of motorcycles in certain parts of Lagos State, has assured members of the public that the disciplinary measures already initiated against the men would be brought to a logical conclusion and the outcome made public.

“The Command will continue to ensure that the rule of law is upheld, while not relenting in enforcing the laws of the land,” SP SP Benjamin Hundeyin added.
