Governor Matawalle of Zamfara has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to begin its investigation into the officials of the Buhari government and its ministers, as soon as they step down from power.
The Daily Trust newspaper quoted Governor Matawalle as saying these words in response to the announcement by the EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, that they have sent invitations to outgoing governors and commissioners as soon as they complete the transfer of power, for their investigation.
The governor said that this type of investigation should not be limited to governors and commissioners, it should include those working in the presidential palace.
Governor Matawalle also advised the EFCC to ensure that it does not involve politics or bias in its investigation, in order to punish anyone found guilty.
The governor of Zamfara is one of the governors who received the letter sent by the EFCC to the governors of their investigation as soon as they step down from power.
