An early morning fire has razed down the popular Akere spare parts market in Kirikiri, Lagos.

According to reports, the fire started at about 03:28 Wednesday wee hours, at the Akere Spare Parts Market, located at Kirikiri Road, Akere Bus Stop, Olodi-Apapa, Ajegunle, Lagos.

Some of the photos uploaded online show officials of Ajegunle Fire Station of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service as the first respondent.

Politics:

While we cannot substantiate some of the reports spreading online about the cause of the fire, the popular views out there on social media is that the popular market where most of the shops are majorly owned by the Igbos, was set ablaze allegedly by suspected political thugs.

One person was also said to have been shot dead.

As of the time of this report, neither the Police nor the Lagos state government has released a statement on the fire incident, which has been alleged to have been carried out by sponsored political thugs.
