The federal government of Nigeria has assured the citizens that the upcoming 2023 general election will be held as planned.
The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed said this in Abuja, during the presentation of the progress made by his ministry under the current government.
When he was answering questions from the press about the comments made by a senior official in the country’s election commission that the country’s 2023 general election is threatened to be canceled due to security problems.
The minister said that the government’s position is that the 2023 general elections will take place as planned.
He added that “nothing has happened to change this position.
We know that INEC is working with the security forces to ensure the successful conduct of the elections across the country”.
“The security agencies are working day and night to ensure that the elections are held peacefully. So there is no fear”, said the minister
The Electoral Commission of the country has set February 25 as the date for the presidential election in the country.
