Some fans of Celine Dion have stormed Rolling Stone magazine office to protest the non-inclusion of the Canadian singer from their top 200 greatest of all time list.
Fans of Celine Dion stormed the New York office of Rolling Stone to express their displeasure about the list.
Fans of Celine Dion criticized the absence of the Quebec singer from the ranking of the “200 best singers of all time”.
“Justice for Celine”, the fans sang.
The list published on January 1 by the famous magazine, caused a lot of controversy because of its daring choices: Michael Jackson was absent from the Top 50, Taylor Swift ranked higher than Christina Aguilera and Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion simply were forgotten.
“This list has no legitimacy,” said Line Basbous, founder of The Redheads and organizer of the protest. “We want to support [Céline Dion] and make sure Rolling Stone hears from the fans. This list is ridiculous.”
“In Quebec, the fact that she is not mentioned in the list does not make any sense. She has been in our lives from the beginning,” another protester added to Variety .
Actress Yvette Nicole Brown, star of the series Community , has already expressed indignation at the absence of the Quebec singer on Twitter: “They relegated THE Michael Jackson to 86th place?! And Celine Dion does not appear DU EVERYTHING?! Frankly, Rolling Stone.”
The Top 10, on the other hand, seems to satisfy readers: there are Otis Redding, Beyoncé , Ray Charles , Mariah Carey , Whitney Houston and, in first place, Aretha Franklin .
