A 3-year-old child drowned on Saturday evening in Mesnil-Amelot (Seine-et-Marne), reports Le Parisien. The firefighters intervened and tried to resuscitate the child for an hour, without success. The mayor speaks of a “regrettable accident”, AFP reports.
According to the report, the incident took place while a wedding was in progress in the village hall of the town. The young victim died in one of the pools behind the town hall, a few meters further.
The 3-Year-old child was playing outside the room just before the tragedy according to our colleagues, then went to the garden of the town hall while his parents were inside. Two young wedding guests then discovered the victim in the water and alerted the adults. The father then took his son out of the pool to administer first aid.
A “regrettable accident”
The firefighters then intervened around 9:40 p.m. and also tried, without success, to resuscitate the 3-year-old child for an hour.
At Le Parisien , the firefighters clarified that “the basin is not deep but it is enough for a three-year-old child to drown in it”.
The mayor of Mesnil-Amelot speaks of a “regrettable accident” and explained that he did not understand “how the child was able to reach the body of water located 100m away”. He presented “on behalf of the city council”, his “warmest condolences to the parents and the family”. An investigation has been opened.
