A plane with two people on board from Great Britain and bound for Le Touquet has crashed on the English channel.
According to the report by Dailymail, the plane with two people crashed on Saturday night, and an emergency air-and-sea rescue operation have since started after the crash.
The Piper PA-28 was in a group of aircraft which was heading to the northern France resort of Le Touquet on Saturday morning.
AFP also reported that the aircraft, type P28, left Saturday from Wellesbourne (United Kingdom) to the French seaside resort of Le Touquet (Pas-de-Calais), said the maritime prefecture.
The machine registered in Great Britain, flew in company of five other planes of tourism within the framework of a common exit, specified the prefecture of Pas-de-Calais.
Its last known position was in the middle of the English Channel, 25 miles (45 km) off Dungeness, in the extreme south-east of England, the British coast guard said in a press release.
‘It crashed into British waters for an unknown reason,’ said a spokesman for the French emergency services.
‘British Coastguard launched an operation supported by French aircraft and boats including the Abeille-Languedoc (Languedoc Bee) tug, which has been chartered by the French Navy.’
Significant French and British research resources were deployed on Saturday in vain.
On Sunday, the search resumed with a French helicopter and the Abeille Languedoc rescue boat, chartered by the French Navy, as well as a British coastguard plane.
The many commercial ships circulating in the area have been contacted, but no debris has been found for the moment, nor any testimony on the fall of the plane, said the maritime prefecture to AFP.
