Popular Zimbabwean actress and model, Vimbai Ekpenyong has been speaking about one of the greatest blessings about motherhood, as shares her personal experience on advocacy since welcoming her first child with husband Dru Ekpenyong.
Actress and model Vimbai Ekpenyong took to her official social media handle on Thursday 30th December 2021, to share one of her greatest blessings, said for her, it is that she finally found peace in advocating for herself.
She said:
“One of the greatest blessings about becoming a mother for me is that I finally found peace in advocating for myself.
I’m vocal. I have always spoken up. But it was often a struggle soaked in guilt, self-doubt and never-ending self-judgement. After all, people are more comfortable around women who are seen and not heard,” she said.
She continued:
“But the more antenatal classes I joined (I joined so many across the globe virtually while I was preggers), the more I realized that a key superpower we all need to tap into is the power to advocate for ourselves. It however comes with the responsibility to educate ourselves and be armed with knowledge. How do you know if you’re fighting for the best for yourself if you’re not well informed?
I haven’t had the time to truly share some of the my biggest thoughts and lessons over the past couple of years, but this is something I am elated to do as we step into the New Year. #VeeLosophy
As we prepare for the New Year, I just wanted to remind you to add ADVOCATE FOR MYSELF to that list that has your goals for 2022 – I can’t wait to hear the testimonies about how things that could have gone one way turned around for your good because you chose your ground and you stood firm,” she added.
Actress and Model Vimbai and her husband Ekpenyon welcomed their first child, a baby girl some months back, after their wedding.
Vimbai shared the good news on her IG page back in August, where she made a post saying:
”IT WAS GRACE ALONE, THAT NONE MAY BOAST!
Almost a month ago we were blessed with our rainbow baby! Words still fail me when I try to express what a blessed journey this has been.
To be chosen to be the vessel that brings forth such a miracle is life changing, especially after a traumatic loss.
She is the one who was sent by God, our African princess – Atumwanashe Eme Ekpenyong.
Eme – our precious jewel ?
A testimony that there is nothing that God can not turn around when you surrender it all to Him, and you follow each of His instructions diligently. You often look a little crazy when you follow as He guides, but in good time His perfect ways will be revealed” she wrote
