Morayo Afolabi-Brown in her social media post to thousands of followers on her verified handle, stating further, narrated how she started her media journey, and her motivation to do more.
Starting her post about her recent achievement, she said:
“In 2005, I entered the media industry at CMC connect, a foremost PR company. Then I moved on to CUE Media, a content development company where I singlehandedly wrote a script for my company that won the $100,000 DSTV New Direction series project.
I moved over to HiTV, where I served as head of Content Acquisition & Production and later Commercial Director before moving on to TVC. At TVC, I was the most senior executive in programmes with the task of revamping the entertainment channel and creating marketable tv programmes.
In all of these, I didn’t have the requisite media skills because my academic degree was in Political Science. Often times, my staff would take out time to get their Masters and develop their skills. One day, I told myself I mustn’t continue like this.
I needed to stop doing “madam” and get back to school,” she added.
Morayo Afolabi-Brown has been one of the voices speaking up and calling for justice about the mysterious death of a 12-year-old secondary school student, Sylvester Oromoni from Dowen College, Lagos, and has also promised to discuss the issue on her TV programme ‘Your View’ this week.
