The Kano State Police Command has denied media reports that a man attacked the delegation of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the incident to BBC Hause, said that a man who was driving against the traffic had hit the convoy of the emir and the minor accident prompted a delay in their journey but nothing serious happened.

According to him, “Today, July 25, 2021, at about 12:45 pm, we have received reports that an accident involved the delegation of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, on his way home. “Lado Bridge to Dangi Highway, which was stopped at the same time by an impatient driver let go of his car and hit his rear team and there was an accident.”

He added that after the incident, the driver was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was treated and discharged.

“Alhamdulillahi, this did not affect His Majesty the King. The victim was also relieved. So this rumour [that the king was attacked] is not true. His Majesty the King is in good health,” he said.
