Chief Patrick Ukah has been appointed as the new Secretary to the Delta State Government, by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. This is coming after the sacking of the former Secretary to the State Government, Mr Chiedu Ebie.
The appointment of Patrick Ukah who was the former Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in the state, was made known on Friday 4th June 2021, by the head of service, Delta State, Mr. Reginald Bayoko.
Hon. Patrick Ukah and others appointed before him by Governor Okowa are to be inaugurated on Monday 7th June 2021, at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
The appointment of Patrick Ukah comes a few weeks after the Governor announced the sacking of 25 Commissioners in the State, the former Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff Government House, Senior Political Adviser, and others.
The sacking of the 25 commissioners and others came after a State Executive Council meeting. A move the Governor said then was to give room for fresh blood to strengthen the administration’s agenda of a stronger Delta.
Ukah, was the State Commissioner for Information in the first tenure of Okowa, before he was drafted to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in the second tenure of the Okowa-led administration.
Ukah, also chaired the just concluded Delta State Praise and Thanksgiving Day in commemoration of Dr. Okowa’s six years anniversary as Governor.
Ukah hails from Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the State.
The statement by the Delta state Government on the appointment reads:
““It is hereby announced for the information of the general public, particularly Deltans, that His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has approved the appointment of Chief Patrick Ukah as Secretary to the Delta State Government.
“The date for the inauguration of the new Secretary to the State Government and the nine (9) earlier announced appointees, for the positions of Chief Economic Adviser, Political Advisers and Special Advisers have been scheduled for Monday, 7th June, 2021 at 9.30am at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
“The appointees and invited guests are to be seated at 9.00am, please”.
