The Chairman of Warri South council area, Dr Michael Tidi has commended the Federal Government and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, for the role they played in the reopening of the Osubi Airport, Warri, one year after it was shutdown.

According to a statement released on Thursday 20th May 2021, by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Francis Sadhere, the Warri South LG boss commended the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, who announced the reopening of the Osubi airport recently.

In the statement, Dr Tidi also commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for supporting the resumption process of the Osubi Airport with some logistics, particularly in the area of covid-19 protocols, even though the airport is not the property of the State.

The Osubi airport was closed in February 2020, following a controversy involving aviation service providers and management of the airport, over alleged debt and mismanagement.

However, Hadi Sirika, minister of aviation, in a tweet recently on his official Twitter handle, announced the reopening of the airport, noting that all procedures, including COVID-19 protocol, will be strictly observed.
