Actress Kerry Washington has taken down her controversial combined tweet paying tribute to Prince Philip and DMX. She took the tweet down after facing a heavy backlash on Twitter.
Kerry just like others around the world, received the death of both DMX and the Duke of Edinburgh on Friday with great shock and while attempting to send in her condolences, she missed fired and the social media cancel mob came for her.
Kerry Washington in her now deleted tweeted, mused on what sort of topics rapper DMX and Prince Philip would discuss while waiting at heaven’s door.
“Anybody else wondering what DMX and His Royal Highness Prince Phillip are chatting about together at the pearly gates?,”
“My love to both their families. May they both Rest in Peace,” actress Kerry Washington had tweeted.
The well-meaning message was met with a fierce backlash on Twitter, with fellow users branding it tone-deaf and “corny”.
Many users were furious at the suggestion that the British royal – who is known to have made a number of offensive comments and jokes about ethnic minorities – would have gone to the same afterlife as the American hip-hop star.
