Abducted Anambra State Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne has been released, the state Police Command reports.
The release of Emeka Ezenwanne was confirmed on Sunday 4th April 2021, in a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, Anambra State Police Command.
TDSP Ikenga Tochukwu in his statement said, the Police, Military and Other Security Agencies had mounted intense search and rescue efforts, which had closed in on his abductors, thereby forcing his release.
“The Hon. Commissioner Emeka Ezenwanne, returned home unhurt, in the early hours of today, Sunday, 4th March 2021,” he said.
Recall, Emeka was abducted following the attack on Professor Charles Soludo’s campaign team at Isuofia Civic Center that led to the murder of three (3) Police Officers by some gunmen.
The Police Command had arrested five suspects in connection with the incident and remains committed in apprehending the remaining gang members.
Meanwhile, the CP has called for calm and reiterates the Command’s commitment towards ensuring safety and security of Ndi Anambra and residents alike.
Shortly after his release, Friends, family and associates gathered to rejoice with Engineer Ezenwanne at his residence.
Among the callers were former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Anambra 2021 gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and Convener of Youths Earnestly Seek Soludo (YESS), Dr Nelson Omenugha.
