Six people who tried to create cancer awareness by changing the famous Hollywood sign to Hollyboob, have been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department.
According to Daily News reports, the group of five men and a woman were arrested for trespassing after they were spotted by security cameras climbing up one of the giant white letters on the iconic landmark around 1:15 p.m. to Hollywboob, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
“It’s really steep up there, so it’s pretty dangerous,” Capt. Steve Lurie said
“They said they were trying to bring worldwide attention to the plight of breast cancer survivors,” he said.
“Bringing awareness to breast cancer is a good cause, you just can’t do it in an unlawful way,” he explained.
He said the suspects were “totally cooperative and have no criminal records,” so they were expected to be booked for misdemeanours and released without bail.
The group managed to partially alter the sign to Hollyboob long enough for the female suspect, an influencer known as Julia Rose, to post a photo to her social media accounts.
A police source confirmed she’s the same model connected to an adult magazine called Shag Mag.
Several pranksters and vandals have tried to leave their mark on the world-famous sign over the decades
On New Year’s Day 2017, artist and pot enthusiast Zach Fernandez used giant tarpaulins to transform the sign so it read “HOLLYWEED.”
He managed to slip away after the initial unauthorized changes but later turned himself in to police and said he was inspired by a similar New Year’s Day stunt in 1976.
