The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad(RRS) attached to the Anambra Police Command, have arrested and paraded a notorious armed robbery suspect after allegedly snatching a Toyota Corolla car at gun-point.
According to the statement released on Wednesday 27th January 2021, by CSP Haruna Mohammed, PPRO Anambra State Police Command, the notorious armed robbery suspect identified as one Chidi Anieke, is a 30-year-old man and was arrested in Awada area of the State.
The Police said the men of the RRS, acting on information, were able to arrest Chide Anieke. He hails from Mbu town in Isiuzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The Police said the notorious armed robbery suspect had on 26/1/2021 at about 9PM allegedly snatched a Toyota Corolla car belonging to the owner at Independence Layout, Enugu while the victim was driving into his residence. Consequently, the suspect drove the car to his hideout in Awada where he was subsequently arrested.
Exhibits recovered in his possession include the snatched Toyota Corolla Car with Reg No ENU 269 PH, one locally made double barrel shot gun and seven live cartridges.
The Police said the investigation is ongoing.
The Command Rapid Response Squad was unveiled on 12/11/2020 by Governor Willie Obiano at the State Police Command headquarters Awka with the aim of responding to distress calls on heinous crimes and patrolling flashpoints in Anambra State in order to ensure safety and security in the State and it is clearly yielding results
