Atletico Madrid are reported to have terminated Diego Costa’s contract, as the Ex-Chelsea man is eyeing a January move away from the Spanish side.

Diego Costa’s contract was terminated by Atletico Madrid on a mutual basis, as parties were reported to have said it is best after the forward fell down the pecking order, with the arrival of Suarez from Barcelona. The striker was said to have made the suggestion, with just six months left in his contract.

The former Chelsea man, is rumoured to be eyeing a possible return to the English Premier League, and could possibly move to Arsenal, who are also rumoured to have indicated interest.

Diego Costa who will attract a lot of interest from European teams, can only move when the transfer window reopens having been under contract at Madrid for the first half of the season, but he will not be tied down to any deadline at the end of the month and would still be free to move to a new side after January if by then he has still not signed for a new team.

Diego Costa left Chelsea in 2017 after winning the Premier Leauge, and rejoined Atletico for a second spell for £54million during the 2017-18 season.

But he has struggled for goals during that time, with his seven in his first-half season back followed by consecutive campaigns where he found the net just five times.
