Nigerians have frowned at the statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari, on the resumed EndSARS Protests across the country. The Nigerian twitter street are letting the President known that he is in hiding. And someone that is in hiding cannot threaten those protesting peacefully.

President Muhammadu Buhari in a statement on Monday, had threatened to deal decisively with any act of hooliganism as EndSARS protests resume across the country.

The President in a statement released by the Presidency on Monday 7th December 2020, on their official Twitter handle, had quoted the President’s reactions to the EndSARS protests across the country.

The Presidency in quoting the President said the security forces are well on the ground to deal with anyone hiding under the EndSARS protests to commit anarchy in the land. The tweet quoting the President; said:

“President @MBuhari today in Abuja warned that any act of hooliganism hiding behind lawful and peaceful protests will be dealt with decisively to ensure peace and stability in the country,!” the President was quoted to have said.

Nigerians taking to their different Twitter handles, after seeing the tweet by the government, were quick to remind the President that there are still unrest in the Northern part of the country, where his attention is needed. Others accused the President of hiding, and not wanting to address Nigerians. Here are some of the tweets:

A president that is in hiding is threatening someone. Tell him to hold a live broadcast first.

Rather than seizing the opportunity to meet them directly and talk to them, the govt started again with threats. Bullish! This is too embarrassing.

Those that destroyed private and government properties also attacked #EndSars protesters and even killed some on the process. The protesters are not to blame for the destruction but the government hired thugs.
