Nigerians are reacting to a throwback photo shared by one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s aides, Mr Ajuri Ngelale, reminiscing about his childhood in old Abuja.
Mr Ajuri Ngelale, who is the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, who also is not fan’s favourite for obvious reasons, on Saturday 5th December 2020, took to his official Twitter account to share the childhood photo. The photo which so far, had gathered many positive comments, unlike his other tweets, showed young Ajuri Ngelale and some of his friends having good time way back in Abuja.
Mr Ajuri captioned the photo narrating how things have challenged, compared to then in Abuja. He captioned the photo saying:
“Back When Abuja Had No Movie Theater & Few Gathering Spots, My Friends And I Would Ditch Weekday Uniforms & Meet At School On Weekends For Basketball. I Was Young & Often Shortest In Those Care-Free Days When Nothing Was Too Serious And All Friends Were Friends Without Motive,” he said.
A few minutes after he shared the photo, his Twitter followers, mostly Nigerians, trooped to the comment section to share their views. While they were some negative comments, the majority of the responses were positive, with them speaking about the good old days. Here are some of the reactions:

I am scared for my children. As much as I want to keep them safe. They come from school, do homework, lessons time , watch tv, play games and go to bed. No playmates, no children silly “hankypanky “ behavior I can say I identify with. They are missing out on children things

Indeed. This bring back floods of memories. Your lines of words are so reawakening. I equally remembered those good old days in same Abuja, where I also grew up, when have wasn’t based on what to gain or on a particular motives, as saturated now.

We need to take back and plan our cities so our children will not miss out of childhood. When they become teenagers now they are hooked on social media. Am inclined to have mayors to run our cities

Thanks, @AjuriNgelale for the memory of good old days. I think our society has lost these innocence and warmth friendships that existed then? I used to be a very good street footballer, where I tried my hands in defense, goal keeping but ended up a Scientist and not a footballer.

Good old days. Technology is depriving our children the most interesting part of childhood. Life was good, and interesting then because we socialise more and the friendship last for lifetime.
