Obaseki Celebrates His Deputy, Philip Shaibu On His 51st Birthday

The Governor of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has shared a lovely birthday message to his Deputy, Philip Shaibu who marks his 51st birthday today.

Governor Obaseki taking to his official Twitter handle on Monday 1st December 2020, posted a message to the Deputy Governor of Edo State, whom he said he shares same unalloyed loyalty to the people of Edo state. He also described Philip Shaibu as his friend and brother, saying:

“I congratulate Rt. Hon. Com. Philip Shaibu, my friend & brother, on your 51st birthday,” the Governor started his birthday message to his Deputy.

He continued:

“It is with great joy that I celebrate you, given our peculiar and shared experience, forged by years of unalloyed loyalty to Edo people, in driving our vision to make Edo great again,” he added.

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu was born on this day, 1st December 1969.

Shaibu was first nominated as Governor Obaseki’s running mate in 2016, under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and they both went ahead to win the Governorship election. He was also re-nominated in 2020 by Obaseki, after they both dumped APC for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after falling out with former godfather and Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole.

Philip was a member and Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly and later became a member of the House of Representatives, before his nomination as Governor Obaseki’s running mate in 2016 and 2020 Governorship elections.
