Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has thanked Nigerians for their goodwill messages during his 74th birthday. He took to his official social media handle to share a short message thanking Nigerians who celebrated his special day with him and family.
Taking to his Twitter handle, he posted this message saying:
“On behalf of my family, I thank everyone, including but not limited to political leaders, friends and associates who sent messages of goodwill and love on the occasion of my birthday. May the atmosphere of celebration be a permanent feature in your lives,” he said.
The former Vice President, who also contested the 2019 Presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he lost to the eventual winner, President Muhammadu Buhari, received goodwill messages from family and friends, when he marked his 74th birthday.
His political party, PDP were some of those who sent in their goodwill messages, wherein a statement released by the National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said:
“The PDP joins family members, millions of compatriots as well as friends, associates and the international community in celebrating Atiku on this auspicious occasion and prays God to bless him with many more years of selfless service to our dear fatherland and humanity in general,” the statement said.
The statement also went further to describe the Waziri of Adamawa, as an outstanding nationalist, a vital national democratic icon and one of the foremost leading lights of our nation.
“Atiku remains a remarkable leader who embodies our nation’s collective quest for national cohesion, equity and justice, political stability, constitutional order, true federalism, economic empowerment, particularly for our youths, free-market economy as well as wealth creation for a prosperous nation, in line with the manifesto of our great party.
Atiku’s success in business and entrepreneurship as well as his achievements as the Chairman of the National Economic Council, in lifting our economy while serving as Vice President under the Obasanjo administration, amply demonstrates the capacity of our nation to economically excel in the hands of good managers.
Indeed, such credentials informed the overwhelming support by Nigerians in their manifest determination to elect him as their President in the 2019 election but for the obvious manipulations witnessed in that election,” the statement had said in their goodwill message.
Cheif Atiku Abubakar was the Vice President under President Olusegun Obasanjo, from 1999 to 2007. He was born on November 25th 1946.
