Eromosele Adene has finally been granted bail by a Magistrate court in Lagos. This was confirmed by Moe Odele on her official Twitter handle on Tuesday.
Moe Adele taking to her official Twitter handle on Tuesday 17th November 2020, tweeted saying that Eromosele Adene who was one of the EndSARS protesters arrested in Lagos and criminally taken to Abuja, was granted bail a few minutes ago. Giving an update on the Eromosele Adene’s case, she said:
“Bail has been granted to Eromosele by the Magistrate. He will be RELEASED immediately the conditions for his bail are perfected. Thank you to the entire village who made this happen. Whew!,” she said.
According to the reports, Mr Eromosele Adene who was never formally charged for any offence, was given the following bail conditions:
1 million naira with two (2) sureties of same 1 million. One of the sureties must own property and they must both be taxpayers.
Also, there were reports of heavy police presence, with journalists barred from entry into the courtroom.
Eromosele Adene was arrested in Lagos and taken to Abuja, before he was then smuggled back into Lagos by security operatives.
Moe Odele in one of her tweets, explained how the movements of Eromosele Adene were being tracked by Nigerian youths, where she tweeted saying:
“People have been amazing in helping track Eromz. Someone saw him on their flight yesterday. Another person sent a video. Another person saw the car that came to pick him. Another person saw him in court today & alerted us immediately. Confirmation of his location is crowdsourced,” she had said.
One of the lawyers that have been involved with the case, Mbasekei Obono, said he believed Mr Adene was sent back to Lagos because “it is clear that the government does not have any evidence against him that warrants a federal offence.”
Mr Eromosele was kidnapped by security operatives on November 7th 2020, and was held in custody without being charged. This clearly is against the Nigerian laws, which requires that anyone remaining in custody for 24 hours shall be charged to court.
