The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced the airlift of over 120,000 Kg of Humanitarian relief items approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno State.
According to the Director of Public Relations and Information Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola who made this known on Saturday 5th September 2020, the airlift of humanitarian relief items is pursuant to its constitutional role of providing Military Aid to Civil Authority.
The airlift of the humanitarian relief items according to Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, was done using the C-130H aircraft and helicopters.
He also said the operation, which is being coordinated in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHDSD) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), is aimed at ensuring that there are no gaps in the availability of food and other essential items at the various IDP Camps in Borno State.
