Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives has rejected the new pump price of fuel from ₦148 to ₦151.56K announced by the Petroleum Product Marketing Company (PPMC).

In a statement, the Minority Leader, Mr. Ndudi Elumelu, said the New Pump Price will result in the increase in the already high cost of goods and services, and worsen the low standard of living.

The caucus directed the PPMC to immediately revert to the former price.

NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, also reacting to the New Pump Price in Abuja, expressed surprised by the increase, which he said was more than three times within three months.

He said the action was ill advised when Nigerians are going through precarious times caused by coronavirus pandemic.

The poor working class and masses are the ones who would bare the brunt of the increase in petroleum and electricity, he said in an interview on Wednesday.

Comrade Wabba said the organised labour would not guarantee industrial peace and harmony in the face of hardship and suffering adding that organs of NLC would be invited immediately to take a decisive position against the hike.
