Chelsea have confirmed their newest signing and Paris Saint-Germain captain, Thiago Silva on a free transfer.
Thiago Silva who is joining Chelsea on a one-year contract, captained PSG to their first Champions League final in over two decades, where they lost to the eventual winners, Bayern Munich.
The 35-year-old Brazilian who was unveiled on Friday 28th August 2020, becomes the 5th player to have arrived at Chelsea this summer, as Frank Lampard continues to be ruthless with his signings.
So far, Chelsea have added the likes of Timo Werner (£53m), Hakim Ziyech (£38m), Ben Chilwell (£50m) and Malang Sarr (free), and their is also that of Kai Havertz whose signing could be announced by Friday or Saturday.
Speaking on his arrival to Chelsea, Thiago Silva told the club’s official website: ‘I am so happy to be joining Chelsea.
‘I am delighted to be a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting squad for next season and I’m here to challenge for honours. See you soon Chelsea fans, I look forward to playing at Stamford Bridge very soon.’
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia then hailed: ‘We are delighted to be able to add a player of Thiago Silva’s proven world-class credentials to our squad

After leaving PSG following a splendid eight years at the club, Thiago Silva paid an emotional tribute to the Ligue 1 giants ahead of his imminent Premier League move.
