Some members of the RevolutionNow protesters were allegedly arrested on Wednesday by security forces, as they commemorate the first anniversary of the #RevolutionNow protest.
The protesters continued their demand which they started on this day August 5th 2019, which is a year later, demanding better governance from the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to reports, the RevolutionNow protesters numbering about 40, who have been marching peacefully, were picked up by the security forces, who were said to be on a stop and search duty. It was reported that the security forces were searching every vehicle passing through a particular route believed to be the meeting point of the RevolutionNow protesters, identifying and arresting them one after the other.
The protesters were arrested at the Mararaba axis, around the Unity Fountain and thrown into at least six trucks that whisked them away to an unknown destination.
A convoy of over 50 vehicles loaded with heavily-armed security personnel were seen patrolling the Unity Fountain and Transcorp Junction areas of the city.
No official statement yet from the government, to confirm or deny the reports, as the situation in the country keeps getting worse, especially the issue of security and wide spread allegation of corruption by government offiicals.
