The acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Daniel Pondei fainted while being questioned by the House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission, on alleged fraud.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, Daniel Pondei was shown collapsing while taking questions from the House Committee on NDDC where he had appeared after walking out on them a few days ago.
Daniel Pondei on Monday 20th July 2020, fainted while he was being asked about the spending of the commission since he took over.
Daniel Pondei who was making his second appearance before the House Committee on NDDC over alleged fraud amounting to billions of U.S Dollars, fainted and was unable to answer questions thrown at him, before he was rushed out of the venue.
Recall we reported here that Daniel Pondei and his team on Thursday, walked out on the House of Representatives Committee on NDDC.
Daniel Pondei had said he and the team were not prepared to make any presentation before the committee.
He had abjected to Chairman of the Committee, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, presiding over the investigative hearing, insisting he cannot preside over a matter in which he is an accused.
Members of the Committee, including Benjamin Kali, Ben Ibakpa and Shehu Koko, told the Acting MD Kemebradikumo Pondei that since there was no document before them, he is constitutionally bound to answer their queries.
While members were still making a contribution on the issue, the Acting MD sought permission to leave and walked out before the committee could grant or reject his request.
Furious members of the Committee accused the Interim Management Committee of trying to frustrate legislative functions and ordered a warrant of arrest be issued against him.
The Committee also unanimously passed a vote of confidence on its Chairman.
