Naya Rivera’s family have released a statement speaking on the death of their daughter, sister, friend and mother. They released the statement where they appreciated the efforts of first responders and rescuers for helping bring her home.
Naya Rivera’s family statement comes after the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s office confirming the actress drowned in Lake Piru and calling the tragic incident an ‘accident.’
“We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers for Naya, Josey, and our family over the past week. While we grieve the loss of our beautiful legend, we are blessed to honour her everlasting legacy and magnetic spirit,” the statement began.
It continued, “Naya was an amazing talent, but was an even greater person, mother, daughter, and sister.”
Naya Rivera’s family also thank all the governmental agencies who joined in the effort to recover Naya’s body from the lake.
“Thank you to the men and women of the Ventura, Tulare, and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Departments for your commitment and unwavering effort to find Naya. We extend endless gratitude and ovation to the heroine who found her. Thank you to her friends, colleagues, and fans for your continuous support.”
“Heaven gained our sassy angel. We kindly request that our privacy be respected during this very difficult time,” the statement ended.
The Ventura County medical office issued its findings Tuesday, after completing an autopsy of the actress and confirming she died from accidental drowning.
In their report, investigators confirmed Naya’s identity through dental records and said, “The body has been X-rayed and a full autopsy has been performed. The autopsy findings are consistent with drowning and the condition of the body is consistent with the time that she was submerged.”
Since her death and the release of her autopsy, her friends and colleagues have been sending their condolences to the family, with the creators of ‘Glee’ promising to set up a college fund for her 4-year-old.
