Gov Okowa of Delta State and his wife, Edith Okowa are set to self-Isolate for 14-days, after one of their daughters whose name was not made public, tested positive to coronavirus.
The announcement from the Governor is coming only a day after the family celebrated one of their daughters birthday.
According to Gov Okowa, who shared the unfortunate news on his official social media accounts on Friday 26th June 2020, said himself and his wife received the news that one of their daughters has tested positive. Hence, they are going to observe the 14-day mandatory self-isolation. He said:
“Earlier today, Edith and I received the news that one of our daughters has tested positive for #COVID19. Hence, in-line with the laid out procedures, we are both going into isolation for the next 14-days. We will continue to keep you all updated,” he said.
Gov Okowa in celebrating one of their daughters yesterday had posted some photos from the family get-together and a caption that reads:
“Happy Birthday to my beautiful and extremely creative youngest daughter, Ewere!
Thank you for always making me proud to be a #GirlDad!,” he had said.
The news also comes a few hours after the updates from the national public health institute, which is responsible to lead the prevention, detection and response to infectious disease outbreaks in Nigeria. The update released for Thursday 25th June 2020, showed a total number of 594 new cases in 22 States in Nigeria.
The update showed Delta state for the first time since the outbreak, recording 106 new cases in a single day. Only Lagos state recorded more on the same date.
..our prayers are with the family at this time…
