The Nigerian Military Air Task Force is clearly not slowing down in their continued bombardment on targets/locations harbouring Boko Haram terrorists and other bandits element in the North East and other parts of the country, as they recorded yet another victory against the group.

The Nigerian Military according to the statement released by the Coordinator Defence Media Operations Defence Headquarters, Major General John Enenche on Friday 19th June 2020, he said in making sure that all Terrorists and bandits are flushed out of the North-East and the entire country, the military air interdiction missions being conducted under the subsidiary Operation LONG REACH, the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has destroyed a Boko Haram Tactical Command Centre and neutralized some of their fighters at Yuwe in the Sambisa Forest area of Borno State.

He said the operation was executed on 17 June 2020, after series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions observed the significant presence of Boko Haram Terrorists in the settlement. 

Air Task Force team also established that a prominent compound with solar panel-mounted rooftop and a large tree in the middle with a nearby flag-mounted sentry post was being used by the Boko Haram Terrorists to coordinate their operations in the area.

Major General John Enenche added that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets dispatched by the Air Task Force team took turns in attacking the location scoring accurate hits. These led to the destruction of the Centre and surrounding structures as well as the neutralization of several fighters. 

“The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, commends the Air Task Force for their dedication and professionalism. The Defence Headquarters equally urge them to intensify the air offensive against the terrorists and all other criminal elements in the country,” he added.
