The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 587 new cases of the novel coronavirus, as the number of recorded new cases in a single day since the outbreak of the virus in the country keeps increasing.
NCDC in its daily update on Wednesday 17th June 2020, reported that the 587 new cases recorded had Lagos state with the highest number of positive cases.
The reports showed Lagos with the highest daily numbers with 155 new positive cases from the 587 new cases reported by the specialist centre on Wednesday.
The NCDC put the national tally at 17,735, and the total number of discharged patients at 5,967 and death toll at 469, as at Wednesday 17th June 2020.
The 587 new cases were recorded in 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The distribution of these numbers, shows the following:
