The English Premier League clubs and other shareholders have all agreed on temporary changes to the rules relating to substitutions. The stakeholders agreed on the number of substitutes during a match will be increased to five substitutes, instead of three, as the league look to return on June 17th, 2020.

The Premier League clubs aside from the increase from three substitutions to five substitutions, they also agreed on the maximum number of substitute players that will be on the bench, from seven to nine for the rest of the 2019/20 season.

These temporary changes are just for the remainder of the 2019/20 season, which is in line with the temporary law amendment made by the International Football Association Board last month.
