The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi wants the general public to disregard the fake and misleading news circulating in the media that he has tested positive for the COVID-19 infection.
In a tweet, Prof. Abayomi noted that It was evident that the fake news was calculated at causing panic and unnecessary anxiety amongst the populace.
He, therefore, urged the public to disregard any news on #COVID19 that does not emanate from the Lagos State Government official communication channels and other verifiable sources.
The Commissioner for health also reminded Lagos residents to remain vigilant and continue to play their part as responsible citizens in curtailing the spread of #COVID19 and ended the tweet with the hashtag #StaySafe, healthy and MaskUp.
Yesterday, the NCDC reported 183 new cases of Covid-19 infections in Lagos State, the highest so far in a single day since the importation of the virus into the State.
Similarly, the aggregate 381 new cases the NCDC reported across the country was the highest number of infection in a 24-hour stretch since the spread of the pandemic in the Country.
