The Governor of Katsina State, Governor Aminu Masari has ordered the lockdown of Daura following three more incidents of COVID-19 in the town.
Briefing newsmen in Katsina, the governor explained that the three cases in Daura involved the wife and two children of the deceased medical doctor that died of the virus last Saturday.
He said the lockdown takes effect from 7 0clock in the morning tomorrow.
The governor rolled out other measures to include restriction of movement and the closure of markets and business premises in Daura with the exception of drug outlets, and food and beverage shops.
He explained that the measure follows consultations with the state Emergency Response Committee on COVID-19 which has been on its toes to prevent further spread of the pandemic in the state.
Alhaji Aminu Masari said that samples of thirteen other persons that came in contact with the index case were taken to the NCDC laboratory in Abuja where they tested negative.
He maintained the state government would continue to take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic in the state.
