NCDC Confirm 22 New Cases, As Total Confirmed Cases Hit 276

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has on Wednesday 8th April 2020, at about 9:00 pm, announced that 22 new cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in some states across the country. This latest development, brings the total figure of confirmed cases in the country to 276 from 254 just last night.

According to NCDC, the 22 new cases shows figures in Lagos and Abuja are increasing at an alarming rate, and although there are records of discharges patients, the figures from these centres are worrisome.

There have also been reports of lockdown violations in Lagos and Abuja, as some residents between Sunday to Tuesday took over major roads to engage in some exercise, while others held parties without adhering to the social distancing order. 

The latest figures show that 15 new cases were confirmed cases in Lagos; 4 new cases were recorded in the FCT, 2 in Bauchi, and 1 in Edo State, making up the 22 new cases recorded on Wednesday 8th April 2020.

The new figures now mean that Nigeria as at Wednesday 8th April 2020 at about 9:00 pm has a total of 276 coronaviruses confirmed cases, with 44 discharged patients, and 6 deaths recorded.
